i just bought a 2008 bianchi san jose and i wanted to add the nexus 8 speed premium hub...do they make any thumb shifters for it? Also after i get the hub and the shifters, do i need any other parts?

I think there is a trigger shifter and a twist shifter.
Someone managed to modify the cable pull enough to use a bar-end shifter. I think he used a "travel agent" made for v-brakes to accomplish that. If it works with a bar-end shifter, it should also work with a thumb shifter. I don't have a link to that, though.
If you mount the twist shifter sufficiently towards the center of the bars, it won't get in the way of your grip. That is what I would do.
