Lube grease for old clipless pedals

I am rebuilding my miyata1400.

I have pair of Shimano ultegra look compatible pedals (6400). The internals are really well buiilt. Overall the are a little stiff so I am going to clean and relub the bearings.......I normally use Phil wood grease but wonder is I should use anything a little thinner....they seam really well sealed....about 2 1/2 inches of threads.

thank for the input
