Shifting Problem with Older Campy Record

I'm having some problems shifting on to the big ring with an older Campy Record group (originally 8-speed) that's been upgraded to 10-speed. My guess is that the old model front derailleur is having problems with the ultra-narrow chain.

I've been thinking of switching to a compact double in any case so I've been wondering: did Campagnolo ever make a Record alloy compact double crankset for use with an ultra-narrow chain? I ride Italian steel and I'd like to keep as much silver on it as possible. Barring that, will a new non-CT derailleur work well with my older standard crankset?

hmmm I never gotten 8 sp cranks but i believe the 10 speed chainrings are a little bit thiner (I have seen myself that a 10 sp campy chain works fine even using 7sp shimano cranks just in case,) and that could be your problem. ... the 8 sp FD shifts different, the travel is a little bit different but i cant confirm because I havent used 8 sp campy ever niether mix it with campy 10, i know some campy 9sp works fine in 10 or 9 w/o any single problem.

Regarding your question about a compact FD?.. Campy record 08 FD is compatible with compact and regular cranksets, no clue if veloce and others are but record it is. Regarding old ct silver Cranks??? Im not that sure if they did silver ones but if u want silvers why u dont get a pair of compact campy centaur ultra torque in silver? They work awesome, thats like 200 bucks or so. The cups are like 25 bucks. U'll notice that the UT work a lot better or different than the old squared tapper bb.

Good luck
