Schematics
I'm serviceing my much neglected cannondale mountain bike, I bought it in 1989 (I think), it has Shimano Deore LX components I've been disassembleing cleaning lubricating and reassembleing, so far so good, but yesterday I took apart my front derailer shifter assembley and the thing has more parts than a Swiss watch, I think I would've been alright but was called away at that point when all my concentration was focused on the crucial reassmbly of the seemingly endless stack of levers, plates, and springs, I think I've got a fair shot of figuring it out eventualy but in order to save time I was hopeing some one might direct me to where I might download and print out a schematic drawing to help me. It's got the little lever over the big lever and both are below the handlebar, it ratchets and I think it my have been the first generation of this type.
Oh and please don't suggest a trip to the local bike shop as I'm in Shenyang China and have yet to learn the language.
Thank you,
Dan Shea

I do not have a diagram of your derailleur. Your plight reminds me of a story about a photojournalist working in Egypt. One day he dropped his Rolleiflex twin lens camera into a pit excavated for the building of a dam. No factory authorized service center was available for hundreds and hundreds of miles. He saw a local sitting in front of his house on a mat with some hand tools. The photographer figured he had nothing to lose, so he turned over the camera to the man on the mat. A day or two later it was good as new. The repairman was bitterly disappointed when the camera's owner did not haggle over the meager price asked for the work. I mention that story because you might just find a local with a lot of mechanical sense who could put it back together without a diagram.
