Osymmetric Rollout

For racing in the Juniors, I need a 52x14 top end gear ratio, if I decide to go with a 52t Osymmetric chainring, will my rollout be the same as with a regular circular ring?

Thanks

It should even out. I wouldn't worry.

And don't you hate junior gears? I get tired of getting dropped on downhills on group rides.

why dont you just ride a regular cassette on group rides and swap the junior cassette for racing?

Just an "old coot" dropping in.
I've heard of "Junior" racing and something about Gear Inch limitations?
What is this racing called "officially"?
I'm looking for a 14T top cog to add to my "arsenal". Maybe IF I could find that kind of racing in my area, I could find a CHEAP source for a used one?

"Junior" refers to an age group. Juniors are, IIRC, 15-18 years old and are limited to the high gear they are permitted to use in races. The official measure is "rollout" which is how far the bike moves with one turn of the cranks but it's usually enforced just by inspecting the gearing.

52T is 52T no matter what shape the chainring is.

Okay, thanks. I was worried because supposedly the 52 ring was a 52 on the top and bottom of the most elongated aprt, and like a 44 on the sides.

The only thing i would be worried about is that those oval shaped chainrings are pretty bad for faster cadence or sprinting. You can't accelerate quick enough or once u get your top RPMs go further and mantain them is very hard. In TT work fine because you are going with all the gears in and u only need to keep the pace and usually the cadence isnt that high after all so those oval Chainrings work awesome.

Biopace was great but not that great and thats why people simply took them off the bikes after a few days testing them.

Just something to think about, just test them kid

Good luck
