Falcon freewheel?

Freewheel is shot. But the OP's post is so ambiguous it could be unicorns coming out of his rear wheel.

Lay your wheel horizontally across a trash barrel with the gear side up. Spray some WD40 into the crack between the moveable and the fixed part of the freewheel. That'll usually fix it.

+1, try that first... but If the pawls in the freewheel are ruined, no amount of WD-40 will help.

You're not doomed, I_K_86. Take it to a bike shop and have them fit a new single-speed freewheel with the same amount of teeth as the old one has (just count them). It shouldn't cost you much at all. Since you seem to really like your bike, you should also ask them to look at the chain and chainwheels just to make sure they're not worn, and replace if necessary - although those are purely preventative measures and not required to fix your current problem.

You could fix it yourself. You'd need to buy the correct tool to remove the freewheel in addition to the part. Estimate $15-20 (on the high end, maybe?) for the freewheel, and $10 for whatever removal tool you need. That's basically $30 to do it yourself, plus your own effort.

Comparatively: a bike shop, if you ask nicely, *might* take off the old one for you for free (thus you don't have to buy the removal tool) and then all you need to do is buy the freewheel from them, and thread it on (carefully and slowly, making sure NOT to cross-thread anything) by hand with a bit of grease on the threads. That's about $15-20 for the part. If they won't take it off for you without charging you, still probably going to be around $30 or maybe a little higher (dependent on what the particular shop charges for labour).

So... it's up to you. If you decide to go the DIY route, please use the forums here to research exactly how to do it so you don't end up ruining the threads on your wheel - that will mean buying a new wheel or hub, and less time to ride. Which is all that matters.
