SRAM i-MOTION 3 cable problems

I was adjusting the cable tension to my SRAM i-MOTION3 (it was skipping around and getting stuck in 2nd gear) and the cable actually came out of the hub (not the link).

Could this be repaired by an armature, or would it need major repairs by a shop? I couldn't find anything in the manual, so I'm assuming it's the latter.

And it's on a Swobo Otis bicycle.

man, I was thinking about getting an i-motion 3, I hope that this isn't a common problem.
