105 - ultegra compatibility
Hope this is not a dumb qn or one that has been done to death before. Go easy on my, I'm new here.
I have a 105 with 12-23 rear cluster. I'm keen to change to something that will make the hills easier, such as 12 - 27, which is available in Ultegra but not 105. I guess I will need a new chain too, as my old one will be too short, and the price diff between HG-73 and HG-93 is not too much, so I might as well go for the Ultegra chain, I guess.
Are there any concerns I should have with mixing and matching between 9-speed Shimano components, or do they all just work together? Any other concerns anyone sees with such a plan, or any other suggestions?
Thanks

Use a SRAM chain instead. It will cost you less, and has the handy PowerLink to make installation and removal for cleaning a breeze.
