Look Pedal Float
So let me get this straight...if you were to use red cleats and dialed them into 0 degree float, that would be the same as using black cleats in pedals that don't accept Free Arc? Is either of these setups more secure?

red cleats have 3 degrees float regardlesss of the setting at the back of the lever. This way, they give float on non-adjustable-float models like the PP136 or PP247. On the adjustable models, when you set the dials to zero, it blocks this float. moving to the next position releases the block, moving to six allows a bit more and nine is the maximum. Six is designed for normal use and zero for sprinting or race climbing. The dials are a nice touch, but once you find your ideal float, there's no need to adjust the amount. I've used both adjustable and non-adjustable models and never felt the need for mid-ride or race adjustment.
Hope this helps,
