Brake Shifter Conversion

I have a 84-85 campy record rear and front derailleur, 8 speed hyperglide shimano cassette. I am wanting to upgrade friction shifters to brake shift levers, will campy ergo 8 speed shifters work? or better to use shimano 8 speed shifters to match rear cog.

Any help appreciated.

Tks

you need to use the shimano shifter to match the rear cog, or change the rear cog to campy to work with your shifters. the pitch & distant between the cogs are different for both systems.
