Any alternatives to buying a 'sheldon bolt' for mounting fenders on a recessed brake?

If need be I'll buy a set of these:

But I wondered if anyone had any miracle solutions that used hardware store parts. I've always used clip on fenders in the past so this is a first for me.

You could theoretically mount the tab underneath the caliper in front of the fork.

Threaded spacers/standoffs from the electronics industry, possibly. But they won't look as nice as Sheldon bolts.

If you own a drill and a tap&die set, it would be duck soup to make a pair of bolts to order. Then you'll have more labor in them than their original value.
