Triple to compact conversion
I have a 2008 Trek Pilot with a triple chain ring and hate it no big hills here and the shifting is not the greatest. I would like to convert mit to a compact. What I have on it now is Shimano 105 and would put the same quality on. Is there anything I need to know about doing this besides the need for a new front derailleur and crank.
Thanks

First, if you don't need the granny, you could just treat your triple like a double and ignore the little ring, or remove it and reset the fd's inner stop screw. I don't know why your shifting is poor but it isn't because you have a triple.
You will need the compact crank and, maybe a new double fd. If yours is the external bearing 105 (5600) you won't need a new bb.

Thanks for the info, as far as the shifting I think it is a chain line and tolerance problem
Thanks again
