How to attach derailleur?
Ok so, the rear derailleur on my '82 lotus is no longer connected to my inability to replace a bolt on wheel. . Anyways, it has a hanger, and a sort of half oval peice and a screw, the oval part has a hole in it for the screw. they go from the hanger to the frame but i dont understand where i screw it on.. it has a semi vertical drop out. Any help would be great, thanks.

screw it together enough to hold, then slide it up into the dropout, half-oval on the inside and the hanger on the outside.

I had the same problem. I bought a set of WTB LONG-handle QR skewers. Clamp them suckers down TIGHT. Wheel doesn't move now. Alternately, replace the axle with a non-QR axle and bolt the rear wheel on.

I know how to adjust a rear derialleur, im just was not aware of putting on a hanger. Got it now. And thanks platypius, and for the help on my flight deck thread. I solved the issue by making sure the bolts were in the drop out equally, so, after 16 mile ride today, its fine. Still they aren't in the drop outs very far, hope its ok

Oh, ok....you're talking about when putting the wheel on. Yeah, you have to center it yourself, as the derailleur hanger takes up a bit of space. As long as the axle isn't hanging halfway out of the dropout entirely, it's fine.

Alright good, every 30 feet I was looking down to make sure it wasn't moving, and I brought my trusty wrench with me! In return, i managed to forget to put my wallet and cell phone back in my seat bag, leaving around $70 in cash and a credit/debit card in plain sight on my front steps.
