stuck stem in fork

I have the aluminum/steal fork issue going on right now. I have chopped the stem so I can take out the fork from the frame and not sure how I can cut the remaining stem that is in the fork to get it out, or is it worth it? I have drills and suck for it I just have no clue how to do it .
thanks

What have you tried so far? Cutting off the stem is a pretty drastic measure to take so I'm guessing it's pretty well stuck but maybe not.

I can tell you though that even if you had a drill large enough to remove most of the old stem, you probably don't have the machinery available to put it to good use. You'd need a mill to have enough torque to turn a 22mm drill bit at the proper speed to cut through the old stem. A hand drill spins way too fast.

Real quick though, if you haven't tried PB Blaster yet, go get some and spray it into the steerer tube such that it can sit and soak in around the corroded areas. Whatever your next step is will be aided by this simple step.

Let the PB Blaster work on it for a day. And really drench it.

household ammonia will dissolve the Fe/Al corrosion.

cutting off the stem was a bad idea unless you had really tried everything else. you are removing any leverage you have to remove it with. if it is a quill stem, you could try to insert the stem bolt in thru the remaining stem and screw into the quill. yank on it and pull on it, if your still having trouble try heating up the fork tube.

Hacksaw blade, just slowly cut vertically through the (remains) of the stem, being careful not to cut into the steerer tube. do this 3 times, and the remains should just fall out. It'll take a while, but you don't have many options left.

Cutting off the stem left nothing but drastic action. Predictable.

People: Don't burn your bridges by cutting off your stem. It could have been taken care of with a vice and some patience.
