Tool to remove hub dust covers

Is there a special tool to remove the dust covers on hubs using loose ball bearings. I overhauled some MTB hubs & I used a screw driver to pry off the dust covers, with much effort and bending of the covers.

I've found one of these works pretty well. Slip it behind the dustcap, put a screwdriver shaft through it and give a tug.

I've always used a wide blade screwdriver and work it around the hole inside the cap to pry it out evenly. Generally they come out with no distortion. If there is minimal distortion it can be corrected by a rubber mallet on a hard surface

I use some forceps. Not really knowledgeable about forcep names, but it's those ones curved at the tip so I slide it in and open it up so there are more pressure points to minimize any distortion to the cap.

That works for most dustcaps, but older Campagnolo dustcaps have a flange along the inner diameter of the cap to help seal the cap/axle interface. It can be well-nigh impossible to pry on this flange without ruining it.

I use a spring hook, which is actually straight at the end. Pry gently in several different locations and the distortion is minimal.
