Do old school sturmey archer 3 spd internal hubs use the same gear cable as every other bike?

nope. the wires the same. but the cable end..nipple if you like. Is a special shape. If its got a trigger shifter. The ends a long thin rod. If its got a twist grip its got a circular barrel end. Similar to old Shimano 3 speed cables.
Ive got some nos SA cables for sale. But am in Scotland. So not much use to you
