1" stems with removable faceplates?

Can any one recommend or tell me if there are any 1" quill stems with removable faceplates, and if so, where they can be found. Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

have you tried a google search of quill stem? when I do it comes up with at least 4 quill stems with face plates and I opened two of the references in the shopping and they both were 1". There was one on amazon and one on nashbar. Im sure there are other dealers. and these cost between 15-19.

What bar diameter do you need it for? Is it for road bike use? What extension angle would be ideal?

Profile makes some with removeable faceplates. So does Kalloy and "amoeba"

Most of these will be for 26.0 bars, alternatively you can run a quill to threadless adapter and then use any modern 1 1/8 threadless stems you want - this gives you angle, length and bar clamp assorted selection. Which will be much more plentiful than a 1" quill with removable faceplate.

A spacer to do what, exactly? A 1 1/8" threadless stem isn't going to fit on a 1" bike without an adapter.

Thank you for all the input. I am going to look at those suggested and see if I can find one to fit my needs - for a road bike, with 60-70 mm reach. It seems I will find what I need.

Look here: https://www.profile-design.com/profil...stems/boa.html

Trust me, they exist.

Universal Cycles carries the Profile ones. I have a couple of the 105 deg ones and while not the most beautiful things, they work fine.

Prolly should've added I haven't looked for a while. Removable faceplates are a handy trend.

The Profile stems are a bit ugly. The Salsa SUL ones are slightly better looking.

The were a "trend" back in the 40's and 50's and in the name of progress gradually phased out.

I had a Cannondale CODA quill stem with a removable face plate. Do a search on ebay for cannondale or CODA quill stem and you'll find them.

Deda Murex, still listed on the Deda Elementi website and fairly easy to find on ebay (some finishes are more difficult i.e. hi polish ).

Have you looked on ebay? There's plenty. Profile, Zoom, Kalloy and no-name ones made by Zoom or Kalloy.
I've used one like this for many years. https://cgi.ebay.com/Zoom-quill-stem-...item53e04e0107

I use this combo too from Velo Orange on another bike, it's rock solid and looks cool.

Get a 1" spacer to fit underneath the quill for a flush setup, as there' is a 1mm gap between the stem adapter and the height of the stem itself.
