Flimsy ROLFS...Flaccid Spokes
About three weeks ago I bought a new late model Lemond with ROlf Vector Comp Wheels. I know these are "old" but were top notched when they came out...but anyway. I was plucking the spokes like a harp and noticed the spokes on the rear wheel are really loose. I then read on ROlf Primas web site that the essence of thier wheels are high tension spoke assemblages. Well my spokes aint tight !!! I pushed the wheel from side to side and it moved about 3/4 of a cm until it hit the brake pad. The front could do this also. IS this normal, what should I do, The wheels are very true, but seem as thgouh they may soon begin to not be so after only a month of ownership.

I have a Lemond Zurich with Rolf wheels. Your wheels are not set up correctly. Once set back to factory spec. they should last a long time. I have 8000 miles on them and the have held true without one ajustment.

I have a Klein Quantum Race that came with Vector Comps. After my very first ride I checked the spokes and found I could twist some if the nipples with my fingers. I retensioned and retrued both wheels and haven't felt the need to do anything to them since.

I probably have 8-9K miles on my Vector Comps and they are as true as the day I bought them. Take yours to the LBS, stat.
