Does anyone have issues with this pump detaching from the valve?

It does fine on my presta's ( a little sticky, but OK), but when I convert it to schrader for my wife's tire, I cannot get the bloody thing to come off the valve until I lose almost all the PSI I got into it in the first place. In fact, I just ripped the valve right out of the schrader tube trying to get it off the valve. Is there a special trick I'm missing?

That pump works fine on both schraeder and presta valves. Not much else can be said.

operator error. the pump works flawlessly. maybe throw some lube in it.

Well, I kinda figured it was my fault since I said:

I'm really happy with the pump otherwise. It actually outperforms my cheap-o floor pump. This is just the only pump I've had issues with getting the head off of the valve, and I'm not sure why this one is different at all.... I'll give the lube a shot.

Re: insertion (*snicker*), when working for Schraders, I just hold the valve with two fingers, then press the head of the pump down onto it until there is no more air hissing and it appears the gauge is working, then lock. When it comes time to pull it off, I basically follow the same procedure (unlock, grab valve, pull off). The darned thing is so tight on there, though, that I have to really wriggle it while I'm losing air ( a lot more than normal ) - and when it does come off I generally end up slamming my hand into the wheel because of the force required. Just was wondering since this is the only pump that's had this problem for me if there was something specific I was missing or something....

When you switch it from Presta to Schraeder and back, there's a collar over the rubber washer that you flip over. Don't tighten this collar so tight- this compresses the rubber and makes the grip on the valve too tight. As the rubber wears, you can tighten it down more to make it grip.
