Braze-On Front Derailleur for Road Triple & Rapidfire Plus Shifters?

I'm trying to run Alivio Rapidfire Plus 8-speed shifters with a Tiagra triple crankset. Usually not a problem, except the Giant OCR frame takes a braze-on front derailleur. Obviously, I can't use a road-compatible front derailleur due to the cable pull differences. Does anyone know if there is a braze-on mountain bike front derailleur? Can I safely run a clamp-on front derailleur (if so, what size would fit the OCR?) Or is there another solution that I am aware of? This can't be that uncommon a problem but personally I've never run into it.

You might look into a Shimano FD-R443. It's their 9-sp FD used on flat bar bikes running road cranks. Supposedly (check on this) has the same cable pull as MTB FDs and is (or at least was) available as braze-on compatible. I believe the FD-R443A was also produced for 8-sp chains. Prices vary a lot; Niagra Cycle has the FD-R440 (double) braze-on for around $17.

Ideally, I wanted a FD-R443A (triple, 8-speed, wider cage, braze-on), but I hear they no longer make them (naturally). I may go the FD-R443 route. However, I also wanted to know if anyone tried running a clamp-on front D on their Giant OCR and what size they used and any results they had.
