Compression Plug install and uninstall
I have a used easton carbon fork that I just purchased off some guy on CL which came with a compression plug and integrated headset. I want to remove the compression plug from the carbon tube but I can't get the dang thing out. If the bolt is all the way loose the plug should just fall out right? I'm tempted to grab the loose bolt with pliers and yank it out, but not sure if that'll work or harm the steerer tube. Any one have any hints or similar problems and solutions? Thanks.

Try tapping down on the loose bolt.
When installing a plug, the tightening of the bolt pulls up a wedge inside to hold it in place. When you loosened the bolt, it didn't necessarily cause the wedge to slide back down. Tapping on the loosened bolt should release it.
