Front Hub on 70s Raleigh Sports - Grease?

Hey bikeforums,

I am replacing the bearings in the front hub of my 1974 Raleigh Sports and cleaning the interior. I know that oil should be added as needed through the hole in the middle of the hub for lubrication. Should I use grease in the bearing races?

Thanks.

Bikes: Several, mostly not name brands.

Grease should be fine.

If the hub has an oil port, it is probably unnecessary to add grease (the oil will just wash it out). Oil will need to be added frequently though. The C&V forums would be the place to check on this.
