Panaracer Ribmo too small on old Mavic rims

We have an 1994 Ibis Touchetandem with Panaracer Tourgard 700x35C on. After an explosion on the rear tyre we decided to shift to Panaracer Ribmo 700x32C folding version.

It has turned out that the old Mavic rim is too large to this specific tyre. What can we do? Which tyres can we chooce from?

Carsten & Dorte, Helsingør - Denmark.

Your odds of getting a useful reply would increase considerably if you could tell WHICH "old mavic rim" you're talking about. Otherwise, ask at the shop for tires that are easy to fit.

The Ribmos are thick and stiff tires that are not easy to fit but I have not had problems with tire versus rim size. Have the LBS see if they can fit them while you watch so you can see their technique.

I don't find the folding RibMos thick or stiff along the sidewall. They are sticky/grabby though when new. I little soap and water or alcohol applied on the bead might help them slide over if they are being grabby. I found them easier to mount than my Conti Tourings.

drop center rims help put on tight tires, the bead on the opposite side has a smaller radius place to go to get the bead over the edge

Mavic mod 4 rims and Mod 3 & E2 are not a drop center design.

the went for double wall double eyelet with ferrules connecting the 2 walls, instead.

I have Mod 3 rims , some tires just were not useful.
