Flat tire that won't pump
Hi, I just bought a bike (used) and the front tire is totally flat. But when I try to pump it up, it feels like it has a lot of pressure and won't pump at all. Any thoughts? Thanks!

If it is this presta valve unscrew the end of the valve then place the pump head on it.

First determine what kind of valve you have.

If its PRESTA. Unscrew the golden part on the valve until its near the top. (yours might be a different color but should look the same)

You may also need to break the seal with Presta valves. After backing off the nut press the stem in for a moment and let a bit of air out. This isn't always necessary, but many valves get stuck because of the high back pressure and won't immediately open on their own otherwise.
If you have Schrader valves you have to make sure the pump head is on far enough to depress the pin when you engage the thumb-lock.

Also, check for dirt in the top of the stem if it is a schraeder valve, usually the caps are left on with schraeder valves for this very purpose.

+1 On presta valves, you often have to burp them first. But until we know more about your bike, no idea.
