Squealing Brakes.... help please.
I have old 1970's Wiennman centerpull brakes with new Koolstop salmon brake pads and brand new aluminum rims.
I just installed the new rims today and the brakes squeal like crazy. At first it was both the front and rear brakes, but the front one has pretty much resolved. The rear brakes still squeal very loudly regardless of how hard I'm braking.
I have read that toeing in the brakes can help. I've tried it and it still squeals, but maybe I didn't toe them in properly.
How can I get them to stop squealing?
Also, the brakes themselves can pivot slightly on the frame. Can this add to the squeal? I have the bolts tightened alot... but maybe they need to be tighter?
