Сreaks in BB area
Hi all.
Recently cleaned all the "engine", i.e. chain, front and rear derr's, system and cassete.
I did dissasembled the front system, wanted to remove the biggest ring, but then realized that the middle one is mounted to the big one, so assembled everything back.
Now - when im putting pressure on left pedal there's a mad сreek coming from bb area. At first i thought it's the new pedals (WTB grease guard) and installed old ones, but it didn't helped. I double checked everything and it's all fine. There's no creek when putting pressure on right pedal only on the left one.
Oh yeah, i do not have that "crank extractor" tool, so i cant really check the bb well
Any hints?
The bike is stock GT avalanche 2.0 disc

Is your left crank loose? You'll need an 8mm hex tool (allen key) to retighten. Take it off completely and check the fit where the spindle joins - see if there's any wear (if there is, and the bike is newish, bring back to LBS for free replacement).

Take your bike to your nearest bike shop and have them look at the left hand crank. If it has a square tapered style bb axle and the crank has become even slightly loose the crank can be damaged beyond repair and will require replacing. If it isnt damaged then a good tighten will probably be sufficient.

Probably a loose crank, but these things can be deceptive. I had a creak for ages that I was convinced was coming from the bottom bracket/chainset. I even replaced the chainset. It finally went away when I pulled out the seat post and put it back with some grease. It was a very long mtb alloy seat post in a steel road frame, going about half way down the seat tube, and as the framed flexed the two were rubbing against each other and creaking.

I was getting bb noise time after time. i a bigger guy 6ft 2in 200ilbs. a good rplacment bb like an xt xtr or raceface should cure it. if its not a loose crank. if it was you can ussally feel it and after a ride or two they will fall off. they just get worse and worse. good time to upgrade to splined. its cheap just get deor cranks and bb from ebay itll cost maybe65 bucks tops.
