It's idiotic to go nine speed, seriously.

If the OP is going to be buying brand new everything, why the hell would you counsel him to buy into an outdated group, not the least parts for which are getting harder and harder to find each year?

virtualelvis, If the bike shifts through all of the rear gears okay, then all you need are a set of 9S STI levers. I must say that doesn't look like my 9S DA RD and the cassette looks like an Ultegra part as there aren't any Ti gears (unless I can't tell beause of the lighting).

If you want to go 10S you'll need in addition to the 10S STI levers a 10S chain, cassette and optionally a new 10S RD. The last item because I'm not sure if the RD you have now will index properly as a 10S as it sure looks like an 8S unit. Worth trying and if need be, replacing.

Al1943, I thought the 8S DA's B position was just an iffy fix to work with other 8S SIS shifters, I learn something new every day.

Thank you all...
Ok.. it's a 7401 derailleur which makes it a 8 speed derailleur
with 9 cogs on my hub.. So I need to upgrade everything to 10speed...
It shifts ok for now.. I'm going to check and see which cog it's not hitting...
And start looking for a new groupset.. thanks for your help...

Having an 8-speed derailleur does not mean that it can't "hit" 9 cogs. Since it's 8-speed D-A it does mean that it may not hit some of them very well. If it is connected hubub style it may work pretty well with 9-speeds. You be the judge. Operator is right, if you plan to buy new shifters it would make more sense to buy Shimano 10-speed shifters, cassette, chain, and rear derailleur. And you could try the hubub routing on the old derailleur to see how well that works. The big question is budget and how long you plan to keep the bike. The new components do not need to be Dura-Ace.
