Alfine 11 strike three? Probably not -- better and better the more I ride it.

The more I ride it the better it shifts. Seems to be a major break-in factor with this hub. There is controversy over the power loss of an IGH versus a derailleur system. I have no precise scientific testing to report, but I can report that I set a new personal record for my 15 mile commute in to work this morning! This is city streets with stop and go, and moderate hills -- lots of shifting. The time beat out my best time on another bike of mine which is a CF flat bar road bike. The Alfine 11 bike is aluminum and about 6 lbs heavier. It also has a 70 x 35 Armadillo on the rear which is not exactly considered a racing tire. The CF bike has 28s. The bike is getting better or I am getting more in tune with it or both. I am now optimistic enough that I planning my first oil change of the hub. Don in Austin |
