Help: ping or click not creak on down stroke when standing.
Hi All,
Today during a ride a ping or click that sounds like it is coming from the front wheel but it happens only when I stand and push down hard on the left pedal. It doesn't sound like a creak from the pedal or bottom bracket. I pulled up to a guy and as I was next to him he said "sounds like you have a click". I'll have to take it to the LBS. Unless I can figure it out. Could it be a weird spoke pinging under stress? I plucked each spoke and they seemed okay. Thanks in advance for your help.

I had a metallic click recently. One of the chainring hex bolts was stripped (Dreaded Previous Owner). The chainring pulls away from the spider during hard downstrokes on the right side. Just an idea. Your click may have a different source.

Thank you for the suggestion I will check the chain ring right away. Would a worn chain cause a ping or click on a hard down stroke? Thanks again.
