question on replacing spokes...
total spoke-replacing newbie question here: if i'm replacing a spoke, does it have to the same kind of spoke or does it just have to be the same size? i have those flat kindsa aerodynamic spokes on a wheel - can i replace a broken one with just a plain-vanilla good old fashioned round spoke?

The only critical dimension in a spoke is length. Once that is taken care of the spoke
gauge is the next parameter, and if this is a 'permanent' substitution it would be
better to get a heavier rather than lighter gauge spoke, assuming the wheel to be
less than 32 spoke count and in particular if it is a drive side rear wheel spoke where
tension is highest. Steve
