Carradice Bagman Expedition Support Issue
Hi everyone-
Just got back from a long camping ride over the weekend. I was riding on primarily unpaved, bumpy roads and my expedition support seems to have had its screws loosened along the way. One side of the rack rod has slipped out of the black connector piece.
I'm going crazy trying to get the rod back in -can only seem to get one side or the other. Has anyone had this happen and have an idea on how to get it back in there?
Leaving on another ride this weekend and need the support...
Thanks!

Is it because the rods are too far apart or too close together? Maybe a strap to cinch them together while you insert them or a spreader to wedge them apart to slip in.

Thanks, good tip. It's more that each end of the rod is bent to a slightly different angle. I'm fairly certain this is by design, to make the tension greater when the rod is inserted to help prevent it from coming back out. So, I'm not certain that'll work, but I'll give it a whirl...

I've had the same problem...... i'm not sure how to stop that from occuring. I've tried locktite on the set screws and it seems okay.
I don't think its made for real rough off-road. i've always seemed to have the problem with camping loads/off road. I had mine slip out in the Marin headlands bike camping last summer.. because i was riding off road for extended periods with a camping load.
loosen the other one and let it rotate in the clamp while you reset them both with locktite on both setscrews.

Thanks for the tip. Still haven't been able to get it in there, but it's close. I'm noticing that the two ends of the rod are bent to slightly different angles. Is this by design? To improve tension perhaps? If not, maybe one side bent when it fell out of the hole on the ride and that's what's making it so hard to put back in? I just don't want to mess with it if it is intentional...
