New Felt QX85 Built - Slight play in the front wheel.

So, building the bike was relatively straight forward, it came in the manufacturers box and was totally unopened, so the bike shop who sold it me didnīt do anything to it at all to pre-inspect it or whatever.

Basically there wasnīt much to do, remove cable tie / cardboard protections etc, fit the front wheel, attach the front disc brake caliper, attach the handlebars (the brakes and gears were already all fixed on the handlebars and the handlebars simply went into the mount and done), and fit the seat. Checked the gears etc, everything lines up very nicely. Lubed the chain up, checked torques on all bolts (yes, all bolts), done.

Went for a little test ride up the road, everything seemed fine when rolling, then thought "lets test the brakes"... lol.. slammed the front brake on and there was a little wobble. Hmmm, so I sat at standstill and put some pressure on the front with the brake fully on, the wheel very noticeably pulled to the left (side of the disc) - After putting some pressure back and forth a few times with the front brake fully on I soon realized the quick release wheel wasnīt done up as tight as it should be - OK, lucky escape.... After I tightened it properly it stopped pulling to the left and was dead center as it should be, no matter how much pressure was applied - The only thing I did then notice under scrutiny that there feels like there is a few mm of play there, in the pads... is that right ? I checked the caliper bolts and they are fine, torqued exactly, but when I sit at standstill and put pressure on the front back and forth with the brake full on, I can certainly feel a few mm of play there. When braking from low speed it sure feels normal, when braking from higher speed (10/12km) it feels normal - Not prepared to go much faster to test at the moment, lol, but when not at standstill braking feels totally fine. I was going to video it but there is nothing to see or hear, just a tiny bit of play there.

Maybe I am just being a bit nervy, but there is certainly a little mm or 2 play there in the pads on the disc, but can only feel it when having brake full on at standstill and putting pressure back and forth - just want to confirm this is OK ?

Been out for a longer ride today, was slightly conscious of this issue so took it very easy. I have to say, whilst riding I felt nothing on braking, not even from speed (20/22mph about my max) - Iīm pretty heavy too so I must be giving them a workout - They feel absolutely 100% normal when braking, seemingly under all conditions I could set for them - Except at complete standstill of course, where when putting the pressure backwards and forwards with the brake fully engaged, there is this slight feeling of play.

I was looking again and again at this "brake play" though and I canīt get it out of my head, would value opinions on here, will be taking bike to local Shimano dealer to check though on Monday.

Other than that, I think the brakes are outstanding, first time I have had Discs on a Bicycle.
