Nexus 3-speed with vertical dropout non-turn washers

Hey - I'm planning to use a 3-speed nexus wheel in my mountain bike w/vertical dropouts. I've ordered the set of non-turns for vert. dropouts, but the current wheel only has the single yellow non-turn on the left side that came with it. (It's not missing pieces, some of the nexus 3-speeds came this way)

Has anyone done this? Do I just need one of the vert. non-turn washers or can I use both as they seem to intend?

Thanks,

I am not sure about the 3 spd but when I bought the anti turns for my 8spd I got two.

you may need a chain tensioner

Yeah, I have a derailleur saved just for this purpose . I'm mostly just wondering whether I really need both non-turn washers since the current wheel just has the one on the left side.

I'm running a Nexus-4 on a bike with horizontal dropouts and I only have one non-turn washer. Hasn't been a problem.

The 3 speed only has axle flats on the non drive side, so you couldn't use 2 anti rotation washers even if you wanted to.
Furthermore, unlike the 7 and 8 speed models, the 3 speed does not care about axle orientation, so it can be rotated to any position and shifting will not be affected. Any anti rotation washer will work as long as it fully engages the dropout.

Interesting -- so I could use the current non-turn yellow washer and just leave the bell crank oriented more "upward" along the right chainstay where my cable routing for the derailleur goes currently.....

Good to know I have some options.

The orientation of the bell crank is not dependant on axle rotation either. You can still have the cable along the chainstay regardless. It's not like a cassette joint.
