Feng Huang

Anyone ever heard of a Feng Huang Phoenix bike? Just ran across one and other than that it is made in China, that's all I know. Thanks, Rob

just general curiosity. have never seen a chinese bike. just wondered if they were common, good or bad, etc. no pics at this time.

They're common in China, that's for sure. I had an '80 Feng Huang 3-speed; it looked like a 1950's Raleigh Sport -- full chaincase, rear carrier, Shimano hub and brakes. Just as heavy, too, but with shorter gear ratios than a Sturmey-Archer hub. It always felt like I hadn't gotten into high gear yet. Sturdy enough, but the paint and chrome were substandard. I really wouldn't recommend one to anybody; you'll never find parts for it, and its curiosity value doesn't outweigh it's shortcomings. If you want something that looks like a Raleigh, just get a Raleigh
