Getting the shifter cable out of the STI hood

Dude! I cannot for the life of me get the damn shifter cable out of the STI brake hood. The one I can't get out is the cable that goes into the right brake/shift lever. The other cable was a cinch to get out by just pushing the cable back out and grabbing that metal ball end and pulling the whole thing out. Yet, I cannot do this on the rear shift cable. I have DA 10. What's the trick here?

Ahhh! Nevermind. I got it! You can to downshift all the way to get that metal ball thingy showing in the hole so you can push the cable out.

Gotta love someone who can answer their own question by working around the problem by themselves. Rex has learned something useful for life.

I'm a fast learner! If my answer to my question didn't make sense, what I mean to say that you have to (not "can") downshift the shift lever all the way down, then the little metal ball become visible in the hole of the brake lever. Bingo! Then, you can either pull the ball out and along comes the cable or push the cable from the opposite end of the ball.
