Schlumpf Speed Drive noise

I just bought a new bike with a Schlumpf Speed Drive. The drive is making a grinding noise whenever I pedal under load. The noise occurs specifically when I pedal with force when the right crank arm is in the 2'oclock to the 5 o'clock position. It makes this same noise, in the same crank position under force whether the shifter is in direct drive or overdrive.

I'm concerned that the noise occcuring in a specific section of the pedal rotation indicates something wrong, not just normal break-in. I have not added any lube or oil (it didn't come with the customary ampule of MoS2 grease) and don't think I should need to on a brand new component that is lubricated at the factory.

Any advice appreciated. Thank you.

Don't assume that it was lubricated at the factory just because it was supposed to be. That sort of thing does slip past QC sometimes.

Have the crank arm checked. Riding with it loose could have damaged it's connection with the spindle and it will never stay tight again.

Good advice. Thanks. I was concerned about that and had it checked out. The mechanic (and Schlumpf expert) said it was fine.
