creaky crank
Hi - I'm new here 'cuz I need some help. My son bought a Felt Dispatch fixed gear bike (without his dads help !!)(hard to believe !!). The crank/bb is very creaky when pressure is applied - most when the right crank arm is about 7:00 position - but not only there. I'm not experienced with Fixies. When this has happened on road bikes, I've re-faced the frame at the bottom bracket and tightened the bearing races to fix the noise. I tightened the shimano cups on this one and its made no difference.
This bike has dura-ace crank and I assume bearings and the fixed gear. Both the external bearings/cup and the fixed gear are new to me. Does the "fixieness" have anything to do with this problem? The wheel gear seems very tight, can it be making this noise? What else can I try? Only think I can think of is new bearings but these feel good and the frame threads look good.
Thanks for any help!

If you're certain that the noise is coming from the crank, check for cracks and/or loose chainring bolts.
It can be very difficult to pin-point the source of bike noises. Many times what is thought to be emanating from the cranks actually comes from the pedals, bottom bracket, seat, or even handlebars. Expect to spend some time dealing with this.

I had a noise I swore was from the BB, but it turned out to be the pedals. Also, for the BB cups, some say teflon plumbers tape reduces creaking.
