Deore Jam
The thumb lever on my right shifter on my mtb just up and jammed solid a couple nights ago, while I was riding. It's been on there since I bought the bike in 2002. I don't ride off-road. This does not feel like dirt or grime. It feels like something solid like metal obstructing it.
I tried taking the tiny screw on the top of the shifter off, but I don't have a screwdriver small enough. Anyway, anyone know what's going on?

Disconnect the cable from the rear derailer. Then see if you can get it to click. If not, it's probably new shifter time. They get gummed up and sticky but if yours just went from working to locked up it could be broken.
