Seatpost diameter next mountain bike

Im trying to find an extended seatpost for my next bike, but i cant find the correct width. I dont have a metric tape measure.

Bikes: 2009 Surly Cross Check Frankenbike

Bike shops will measure it for you with a caliper.

Bikes: '96 Litespeed Catalyst, '05 Litespeed Firenze, '06 Litespeed Tuscany, '20 Surly Midnight Special, All are 3x10. It is hilly around here!

Look at the old seatpost. Most have the diameter marked on them below the minimum insertion line.

Bikes: too many bikes from 1967 10s (5x2)Frejus to a Sumitomo Ti/Chorus aluminum 10s (10x2), plus one non-susp mtn bike I use as my commuter

If you come back and post the brand and model bike, someone with the same bike might tell you the seat post diameter.
