I saw some spinergy wheels for sale. They are BMX wheels that are 20 x 1.75 with sealed bearings, and I was wondering if they fit on my bike friday pocket rocket bike. Would anyone know for sure?

Measure the wheels on your current bike, if the are 20 inches sure they will fit.

Well, BF says the wheels are 20 x 1 1/8. The wheels for sale are 20 x 1.75. The sizes are a little off, but I wondered if I was just being too technical. Also, I wondered if they would be better served for a BMX than a BF since I have more gears.

Thanks! Any additional insight? I actually don't have access to the bike right now. It's at my brother's crib.

You can probably get away with the fractional dimension, but you will have to get new rubber for the wheel set. But a single Speed Bmx Wheel is not as wide as a Multispeed 20" Wheel. You may need to change out the rear axle and add in some axle spacers to accomodate the rear Free wheel.

Another consideration is if the Spinergy rear wheel is one of the newer cassette sytems made for BMX, the swap may be impossible. I haven't dealt with Spinergy for over 10 years. I don't know their product that well anymore. Check with Spinergy to find out.

Bikes: trek 520 & 736, DeRosa Professional, Fuji Professional, Raleigh International 3-speed, Saronni (any info people?), Humber 3-speed, Raleigh Sports, Carlton Grand Prix coming soon!

Probably won't work, there's roughly a 22 mm difference in brake reach. 20" fractionals are different from the 20" decimals. Plus you might want to check with BF about spacing, a lot of take-aparts and folders use narrower hub spacing.

Actually, the brake reach may not be a problem. I have successfully swapped many BMX wheels to the fractional sizes. It all depends on how accurately the brake bosses were welded on and what brakes are being used on the Bike Friday. The spacing and the hub design are indeed the biggest problems.

From what I gather from the Bike Friday website, Koffee's bike comes with dual pivots, not cantis or v-brakes... not much adjustability there. Probably 10 mm max.

The short answer to your question is: No. You'll either have to buy the freewheel separately or swap over the one from your existing wheel.

When you said "New rear rim" I assume that you ment "New rear wheel." A wheel includes the hub and spokes a new rear rim wouldn't and would consequently require much more extensive swapping over.

strangely enough, a freewheel removing tool. if you don't know what type, you're best off going to your LBS to determine which.

These Are Really Basic Questions That You Should Do A Search For Or Call Your Local Bike Shop Where You Bought Or Are Buying The Wheels. Its Not Nice To Post Your Question In Other Peoples Threads, Just So You Know. You Should Have Started Your Own Thread Or Used The Search Button. Neither Do You Have To Capitalize Every Word, Lowercase Is Preferable To All Caps, FYI. Take Care
