Avid BB7 road adjustment cap (outside)
I know I can probably contact Avid to get a replacement ouside cap:

but just wondering if there is any good reason to get a new one. I have found that on my commuter bike which I ride in the rain and light snow that the inside pad is basically so stuck, I need a wrench to adjust it and the outside pad is so stuck I need a wrench to adjust it anyway, which means I generally take off the red pad so i can get more purchase on the little knob the red cap basically adjusts. I've stripped the cheapo plastic cap such that it is ineffective anyway. Any reason I need the red cap since all it seems to do is to turn the adjustment rod to set the pad space and plus, the one I have now is stripped. Wish avid would design something that isn't cheap, some of us use them a lot and in not ideal conditions.
