Replacing Shimano 600EX BB help.

Hello, I need to replace the BB on my single speed. the old BB is a Shimano 600EX 68x116mm. Problem is; I can't find this size anywhere. I have found a BB-UN26 with 68 x 118 & 68x 113. Can I use either of these spindle lengths? I had near perfect chainline with the 116mm spindle. Thanks in advance.

It's a question of chain line and nothing else. Assuming all three BBs are symmetrical, you're talking of a difference of 1-1.5mm per side. Take a look at your chainline now, and see if you'd rather go in or out that much.

I find that usually shorter is better as long as the chain line is OK, and the cranks clear the chainstays. In any case a shorter spindle allows the use of a spacer under the right cup to move chain line out up to 2mm or so. You can't do the opposite and move too long a spindle inboard.

Bikes: '96 Litespeed Catalyst, '05 Litespeed Firenze, '06 Litespeed Tuscany, '20 Surly Midnight Special, All are 3x10. It is hilly around here!

Shimano made a BB-UN7X bottom bracket is 68x115 that was the standard for 8-speed Ultegra (6400) double cranks. You may be able to find one of these.
