Brifter question

Hi. I just got some brifters in a trade for something I was going to throw away .
How do I tell what kind of condition they are in other than external scratches? They are the 10sp Shimano Ultegra SL brifters from a few years ago...66xx something. Thanks.

Need to run them through their paces. Clamp them on a bar, put a cable in them, hold it taught and shift up and down to see how they feel.
