BB Compatibility with a Quarq

I'm looking at getting a frame with a BB86, but I want to use a Quarq PM. I noticed that my only option on the Quarq website was to get an adapter for the frame for GXP. I was wondering if getting the adapter ruins the benefits of have a BB86 in the first place? If not, great, but if so, I will have to think about it. Additionally, are my other options to go with a Powertap or find an SRM? Anyone else know of another kind of PM I could use with this bottom bracket?

Thanks!

On a side note, damn you Garmin for not releasing the Vector...

I have a BB86 frame in which I installed a SRAM GXP crank. The adapter comprises two press-in plastic bushings that reduce and space the BB86 bearing cups to accept GXP press in bearings. So yes, I can't see how it wouldn't eliminate the benefits of BB86. That said, what are the actual benefits of BB86?
