Campy shifters with shimano derailleurs
Hello everyone,
I have some campy veloce 8-speed shifters that i want to use on my steel bike, wich is equiped with an early '90 105 line. I have done some research and i know the 7 speed cassette works with an 8 speed campy RD, but i want to keep my 105 RD and paire it with the veloce shifters. Can it be done?
I do apologize if what i am asking is common knowledge.

So I need the shiftmate for the conversion? Upon further digging i have discovered someone who claims he has made the conversion without any other parts( he was using an sh-rd6400 derailleur and an 8-speed mirage lever). [h=3][/h]

"Need" is a bit vague. People are not all equally finicky about how well their bikes should shift, and you'll always be able to find someone claiming to be entirely happy with whatever strange combo you can come up with.
I haven't tried what you want to do but if it was my money, I'd go for a JTEK adapter - assuming there is one for your particular combo.

I would use the ShiftMate. Wait I already do... On 3 of my bikes. Andy.

I'd look for the Campy RD. No kludge that way, and you might be able to get one cheaper than a shiftmate.

Yeah i think this is the best solution. The price of the shiftmate+transport in my country would be greater then the price of an used veloce/centaur RD. Thanks for the input guys.
