cable routing question

I'm Currently putting new cables on a hybrid bike and just wondering if I should send the rear brake cable through the middle cable guide (as I currently have it) or inner? Picture attached.

On my mountain bike the LHS guide is for the rear brake cable, the center is for the RD and the RHS to the FD.

Depends how the cable lines up with the next housing stop/segment of housing. The preference is a straight line from one stop to the next. The exception to this would be if you are trying to avoid a sharp housing radius that may cause friction...an examle of this is routing STI/Ergo shifter housing around to the opposite side of the bike's cable stop and then crossing the cables under the d-tube where they are realligned as they are routed through the cable guide under the bottom brocket.

I'd use [Rt to Left on the bike as you ride it ] RD, FD and Rear Brake .
the center left stop is the FD, to the cable down the seat tube.

Bikes: too many bikes from 1967 10s (5x2)Frejus to a Sumitomo Ti/Chorus aluminum 10s (10x2), plus one non-susp mtn bike I use as my commuter

There's no hard and fast rule. What matters is the path the cables take after they leave the stop, and which provides the best alignment, and least tangle.

On your bike, running the brake to the middle and the derailleur to the outside would have the derailleur cable remain below the brake cable avoiding the crossing situation you have now. It may not really matter, but might prevent chaffing of the housings where they cross.

BTW- moving the brake over is easy enough, slacken it at the brake by removing the noodle, the same as you would to change a wheel. Then you can slide the housings out of the stops and reposition them to the center.

I don't remember (original owner) if my mountain bike's cables were OEM routed like I wrote, but when I recabled I didn't want any crossing cable housings.

Give your rear gear cable the straightest possible route, FD and rear brake require less accuracy.
