Tick...tick...tick...

Well, I've noticed lately that my bicycle has developed a ticking when I pedal. It seems there is a very subtle tick when my left foot is at the 12 oclock position. When I power only my right foot, it seems to go away. Any ideas what this can be? I'm thinking either the pedal or the bb, because I dropped my bike (onto the left pedal) a few days ago, although the ticking (I think?) began before that. Could it be BB bearings? What about the crank itself? Any way to check?

Make sure you keep us informed on your progress about tracking down the tick, won't you, ivan?

The last guy to post a tick-tick thread has left us all hanging despite umpteen suggestions as to what it was (or moer specifically, what it isn't in the process of elimination).

Ok, so, removed pedal, put one of my old clip-equipped pedals on, went for a ride around the block. No clicking. A ha! Must be the bearings! Put on sneakers, put on SPD pedal, went for a ride. No tick. A ha! Must be the cleat, I thought. Went for a ride with my SPD pedals and shoes...no tick.

Whiskey tango foxtrot, over!

I'm happy for now though, maybe reseating the pedal did the trick. Maybe it was my shoelace against the bottle cage. Who knows? Anyway, I'm fairly certain it is the pedal if anything, and they are the 30$ M535 shimano SPDs, so no loss.
