Tread cracking..

Would a defective tire cause a bike to handle squirrly? My front tire seems to be suffering from tread displacement..cracking and pulging along the green side wall. I never put more then 80 psi. 100 is the max. just wondering. I'll swap it with a less attractive tire and sees what happens later.

A hundred and eighteen views and not one efing respond? Geeeez, I'm glad this isn't the suicidal depression forum!
Anyway I discovered a bunch of very loose rear wheel spokes. Extremely loose. Trued the wheel and problem solved.
I did the same thing a couple of weeks ago with the same wheel because of loose spokes. This time I only tighten the spokes to get it trued.
Didnt really want another tire yet.

Bikes: too many bikes from 1967 10s (5x2)Frejus to a Sumitomo Ti/Chorus aluminum 10s (10x2), plus one non-susp mtn bike I use as my commuter

Sometimes you just have to wait for someone to bite.

Anyway, as long as the tire runs true, it won't usually affect handling. A tire with a wobble, front or rear an make a bike feel like the wheels are loose and wobbling. Also a seriously underinflated tire can be very sloppy when cornering. Usually not an issue for folks who check their tires once in a while, but you can get fooled by a small leak, which drops the pressure without you noticing until you turn.
