Should I attempt to warranty my Mavic OPs?

Today was the third time in two months that spokes have come loose and thrown my wheel out. The wrench suggested that they don't use spoke prep during machine production -- unlike hand building -- and that might be part of the problem.

whatcha think?

Spoke prep not required. It's just a bad build. They probaly need detensioned, tured and retensioned by someone that knows what they are doing. I have lots of OEM wheels that are fine. My worst ones are OEM off a bianchi with OPS chorus hubs and no name spokes that keep breaking in the rear.It needs rebuilt right.

Yea these need to be rebuilt. Wheelsmith spokeprep is nice, but not using it will not cause issue. good spoke tension is the best way to keep nipples from loosening

Thanks guys!

I'll see if the shop wants to rebuild it, but I doubt it.

And yeah, i want to learn it, but I don't want to learn on my primary wheels.

I can't imagine why they wouldn't. If you bought the wheelsl (or bike) from them two months ago they should be eager to fix them up for you.

If you bought the wheel online or from a catalog then you may have to go back to them for satisfaction, which is sort of a wild goose chase.

They should not need to do a full build, just drop tension and bring it back up. You might mention spoke freeze. It is handy for wheels that don't like to hold tension and can be applied after the build.
