shimano cx50 chainring compability

Hi,

I just bought 105 5750 34t chainring to replace cx50 36t inner chainring. but it doesn't fit on the edges although it is said that it should fit ( both seller and the discussions on the net ) and its specs are same as 36t. Am I missing something? is this normal?
